"Renewing Our Vision for Missions" There are 6.8 billion people in the world. 4.5 billion are classified as non-Christian. Are we being obedient to Christ in getting the good news of His death and resurrection out to the peoples of the world so that they can respond to it in faith and be saved (Matthew 28:19-20)? Let's look at some questions that need to be answered. I. Will we be a self centered church or a missions oriented church? THe authority of Christ dictates that we must be involved in missions. II. Should our focus in missions be on the gospel or social action? Social action is important, but to limit missions to social action is inadequate. People need to be saved from their sins, and only through faith in Christ can that happen. III. Where will we find the workers to do the job of missions? Jesus said to pray for the Lord of the harvest to send out workers (Matthew 9:37-38). IV. How will we fund world wide missionary work? We must be willing to sacrifice in order to get the gospel of Christ out to those who need to hear it. V. Are missions worth the effort? In the end, the kingdom of Christ will triumph (Isaiah 11:9, Revelation 5:9)! |
