"A Coming Invasion of Israel"
Ezekiel 38
God is unique in His ability to unerringly foretell the future. According to the Bible there will be a massive invasion of Israel by a number of countries in the latter days.
I. Who are the nations of Ezekiel 38?
A. Gog is the leader of the nations that attack Israel. Magog probably represents Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Uzbekistan, Turkmenistan and Tajikistan.
B. Rosh is probably Russia.
C. Persia is Iran.
D. Put is Libya.
II. When does the battle take place?
A. The battle takes place in "the latter years" or "the last days" (Ezekiel 38:8, 16)
B. The context indicates that Israel is back in the land. (Ezekiel 36-37) Modern day Israel was born May 14, 1948.
C. Israel will be dwelling "securely." That does not seem to be the case now.
D. Yet, present day events seem to be headed toward the fulfillment of this prophecy.
III. Where does the U.S. fit in all of this?
A. There does not seem to be a clear reference to the U.S. in end time prophecies.
B. Some believe that America will decline as a world power before Christ's return.
C. The U.S. faces a number of crises today: economic crisis, an energy crisis, a nuclear weapons crisis, and a moral crisis.
D. America needs to turn back to the God of the Bible or face the consequences.
IV. How does the battle turn out?
A. Israel has no chance of victory humanly speaking.
B. God intervenes on behalf of Israel and the invading forces suffer a devastating defeat.
C. God punishes sin and rebellion. (Galatians 6:7)
D. God will vindicate His name and reputation (Ezekiel 38:16, 23)
E. Have you received Christ into your life?
F. Are you following Him? (1 John 3:3)
